Paul
Paul Statham is a songwriter/producer and sound artist whose commercial pop compositions have contributed to around 32 million album sales These include the lead single 'Here With Me' and the title track 'No Angel' from Dido’s U.S and U.K no 1 album ‘No Angel’ (24 million sales) and 2 co writes and productions on Kylie Minogue's international no 1 album ‘Fever’ ( 7 million sales ).

He has written recently with rock band Simple Minds ('Kill Or Cure' from top 10 album 'Big Music'), X factor winner Matt Cardle (lead track 'It's Only Love' from top 10 album 'The Fire'), girl band The Saturdays ('Why Me Why Now' from top 5 album 'Chasing Lights') and contributed songs to 2 international no 1 albums, 'Reset' an Australian no 1 album for Tina Arena and co wrote the single ‘Acciaio” featured on the Italian no 1 album ‘Made In London” from Italian X factor and Voice star Noemi.

His electro pop band Peach formed in collaboration with producer Pascal Gabriel signed to Daniel Millers Mute label and the single ‘On My Own’ from the album Audiopeach was featured in the film Sliding Doors and went on to become a U.S top 20 hit.

He has written with an eclectic range of artists via his publisher Warner Chappell including former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Rachel Stevens, Natalie Imbruglia and Will Young.

He is also known for his long standing 7 album collaboration with Gothic Icon Peter Murphy including the albums 'Love Hysteria', 'Cascade' , 'Holy Smoke' and the top 40 U.S album 'Deep',
as well as the singles 'Cuts You Up', 'All Night Long' and 'Indigo Eye's' amongst others.
Cuts You Up was recently voted #9 best Modern Rock Track of all time by Billboard Magazine.

He also writes with many more left field artists including former Massive Attack vocalists Shara Nelson and Dot Allison (co-writing her Arista single 'Close Your Eyes')
He has co written and produced 2 albums, ‘Voodoo Chic’ and ‘Metropolitan’ for Mercury prize nominated artist Helicopter Girl.
He has co written alt country including 'How To Get Your Love' from country/folk trio Red Sky Julys eponymous debut album.

He co-wrote and co-produced Red Sky July and former Alishas Attic singer Shelly Poole's debut album 'Hard Time For The Dreamer'.
Recently re issued on his own Loki Records label.

He has produced and co written 5 tracks on the new album ‘Exactly' (2017) from 90’s chart toppers Right Said Fred including the single ‘Sweet Treats’.

He mostly develops and works with new artists via his publisher Warner Chappell Music and is also a visiting professor at Leeds College Of Music, Is songwriting module leader at Solent University and ran the module 'Writing For Commission' at BIMM London.

He has just started a new position (October 2024) at ICMP (The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) London as tutor on the new MA Commercial Songwriting & Production course.

He is now a popular mentor for The Songwriting Academy and has been a mentor on their Spanish songwriting retreats for the last 2 years along with Shelly Poole and Paddy Byrne.

Paul and Shelly also mentor and curate the Knoydart Songwriting Retreat in North West Scotland every year and have now formed 'SPPS songwriting workshops and retreats' together.
​
Also a founder member of Post Punk 80's band B- Movie who continue to play and record with the original line up today.
​
He has his own music project "The Dark Flowers" featuring both vocals from Jim Kerr, Catherine AD aka The Anchoress, Peter Murphy, Dot Allison (Massive Attack), Shelly Poole, Gabriella Cilmi and Norwegian singer/artist Kate Havnevik amongst others. The album Radioland was described by Mojo magazine `as "a perfect album for a lonely winter night" - **** and Rolling Stone “unfolds a subtle magic…a soundtrack without a film.”

The follow up album is complete and features new addition Gabriella Cilmie and former Bauhaus bassist David J as well as more from Jim Kerr, Shelly Poole and Catherine AD aka The Anchoress. (Scheduled Summer 2023).

His art installation work began in 2002 when he came into contact with Italian based curator Victor de Circasia.
He has worked with artists such as David Mach, Zadok Ben David, Luisa Valentini, Jonathan McCree, Daisy Cook and Jo Dennis and has collaborated in numerous exhibitions using found sound, minimal composition and film.

He has started his own experimental music label Loki Records to release his own and any suitable collaborative work.
